Revenue Analyst III
Revenue analysts are required to have a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from correct interpretation of the commercial intent of a price, and application of it to local and interline billing, to the accounting and freight billing aspects of the entire order-cash-cycle. The correct understanding and execution of these duties shorten the days to cash and improve the cash flow for the company. These activities should be performed in a way that minimal or no impact is observed in the daily revenue estimate. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the analyst to identify process failures up or downstream that could have a material or potential effect in the quality of the estimate, and implement corrective action and lead the effort to resolve them.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting or Finance required
- 3+ years of railroad or transportation accounting experience preferred
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Resolve work list issues on a daily basis.
Determine root cause of errors impacting the revenue pipeline.
Quantify error type and business unit.
Input error data into RMS measurement database.
Implement corrective action on a proactive basis to facilitate order to cash process.
Interface with marketing, sales, business solutions group, customers and other carriers as needed.
Provide input on use of RMRs to proactively settle revenue disputes.
Provide assistance to market managers to ensure accurate price creation.
Provide assistance to ISS personnel on ISS and customer disputes.
Identify, define and communicate system defects.
Monitor upgrades of the RMS system.
Any other duties that may be assigned
The analyst is accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of revenue recognition on a daily basis.
Maintain a direct channel of communications with Customers, Marketing, Sales, Business Solutions e.g. Customer Solutions & Customer Billing, Transportation and other key departments to insure the Company’s revenue is recognized in its entirety.
