Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:The Track Supervisor inspects tracks for FRA213 (track standards) compliance and protects track that is not in compliance by taking appropriate remedial action to protect trains and crews. The supervisor promotes safety with crew by conducting job audits and safety meetings.


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • FRA213 (track standards) qualified

  • 3 years of railroad track experience


  • Basic computer skills

  • Knowledge of Maintenance of Way and signal rules


  • Travels on foot or by hyrail vehicle to inspect tracks visually and/or with appropriate tools

  • Completes daily FRA (Federal Railroad Administration) inspection reports

  • Follows test cars to visually confirm results and takes appropriate remedial action, if needed, to immediately create safe conditions

  • Regularly communicates conditions to the Roadmaster so repairs can be scheduled

  • Inspects tracks after repairs are made

  • Responds to trouble calls and conducts special visual inspections following adverse weather alerts

  • Available 24 X 7 X 365

  • Works outdoors and in inclement weather conditions
