Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for ensuring efficient operations at intermodal and automotive facilities, timely and safe movement of trains and freight to ensure customer satisfaction and that all terminals are secure.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Business preferred)

  • 3 years of railroad or transportation experience

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent relationship building skills, internal and external customers and clients.

  • Solid computer skills – MS Office suite.

  • Strong account management and vendor management skills.

  • Strong skills to manage details – invoice auditing and approvals.

JOBDUTIES:

  • Responsible for ensuring lift and auto operators (service vendors) are meeting service level agreements per contracted obligations in regards to coordination of placements donewithin standards, trains spotted on time and discharged on time, and loaded, pulled and departed on time.

  • Identifies and implements best practices and process improvements for KCS and Service Vendors to maximize efficiency.

  • Conduct intermodal terminal audits of paper trails, safety matters and terminal operations and educate counterparts to observe and correct deficiencies and inefficiencies within theterminal.

  • Accountable in cooperation with KCS Police to ensure the safeguarding and overall security for all terminals.

  • Communicate with counterparts across customers to coordinate movement of equipment and freight (planning and forecasting also) to minimize customer disruption and to avoidcustomer complaints.

  • Operate terminals within approved operating budgets.

  • Assist Sales and marketing with customer relationships and act as company representative, tour guide, etc. as needed.

  • Cooperate as a Tier 2 support to Customer Contact Center and Sales and Marketing related to intermodal and auto terminal issues.

  • Comply with all company safety rules and appropriate regulations.

  • Contribute to successful completion of critical projects or initiatives.

  • Responsible for the physical condition of the terminals to insure a safe and secure environment.
