Market and Business Intelligence Analyst
The Market and Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for supporting the Sales and Marketing Organization and Executives with Market Insights, customized Maps and Data used for securing new business opportunities, increasing revenues and helping to establish subject matter expertise.
Supports growth through marketing intelligence by serving as the shepherd of data and single source of truth for internal and external analytics relevant to KCS business and opportunities;
Shares insights, trends and relevant content with KCS colleagues via vehicles such as reports, white papers, “stories”, presentations, etc. to be the source of market intelligence;
Creates unique maps or other components to tell the story visually;
Proactively and reactively generates materials for sales teams to support them with their growth initiatives;
Proposes, researches and designs material that can be shared widely to build subject matter expertise (ie white papers).
Translates key insights, trends and data into brand-right key messages, actionable recommendations and useful tools for various ranges of internal customers (ie executives downward);
Builds relationships with internal customers at all levels within the organization to support their initiatives and to have first line knowledge to help fill in gaps;
Manages Market and Business Intelligence resources and partners to ensure on budget, time and quality deliverables;
Analyzes web performance to propose enhancements or updates to leverage the tool more effectively;
Serves as brand manager for key commodities within the organization;
Manage the input and output of the requests so that due dates are met w/o compromising quality of the data and output;
Manages to departmental budgets for specific research vehicles/sources and alerts manager when requests or changes are outside budget scope;
Propose alternative solutions for requests to still achieve objectives while stewarding ROI;
Exemplifies KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Marketing, Finance, Economics or related field;
4 years experience in a position of analyzing data, situations, customer or economic environments and forming recommendations and/or conclusions and/or market research;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 years experience in the transportation industry, market research or data analytics.
Minimal travel (5%) may be expected;
Ability to work nights and weekends as workload dictates;
Ability to manage technology as a resource and drive innovation by continually searching for new methods and tools to support insight and data gathering and interpretation.
