Supervisor Revenue Accounting
This position is responsible for management of the Revenue Accounting functions. This includes the month-end close for revenue, the customer claims, and the liability rating payment processes.
Manages the month-end close process as it relates to revenue. This includes ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and timely and financial reports are completed for Senior Leadership. Responsible for account analysis to propose adjustments needed;
Reviews assigned monthly account reconciliations and processes;
Oversees of all reports prepared for internal and external use relating to revenue including quarterly and annual reporting;
Manages the team responsible for processing payments related to revenue liability payouts (haulage, switching, and allowances). This includes assisting with research of invoice discrepancies and reviewing contracts for proper accounting treatment. Will also work with the Revenue Management Services department and Sales and Marketing to resolve issues;
Manages the customer claims process including reviewing claims, working with the collections team to resolve issues, and working with customers to resolve issues;
Oversees the interline switching process for both payables and receivables. This includes researching accrual issues and ensuring accurate rates are in place. This also includes participating on the industry Interline Switching Task Force;
Identifies, develops and implements process improvement opportunities;
Provides support to Internal and External auditors, FP&A, and other internal customers;
Improve efficiencies in dept. by gaining knowledge of terms of contracts and federal state and local guidelines;
Participates in testing and implementing SAP changes;
Exemplify KCS Vision, Values, and Culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
6 years accounting experience;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SAP and/or TM1 experience.
3 years Railroad accounting experience.
Experience managing people and processes in an accounting environment.
- Solid Understanding of financial statements.
